Since the depiction of landscapes in the visual arts has achieved autonomy as the subject of the image, it can also be seen as the expression of the spiritual state of its image’s creators. The theme of this exhibition is not the landscape as a geographical veduta but as the conveyor of emotional and social conditions. Along with idealized city and landscape views the focus will be on urban non-sites, which are scrutinized based on their civilizational use of the environment. The exhibition presents major representatives of contemporary landscape photography. Their works make it clear that the depiction of landscape and environmental issues have become predominant themes in contemporary photography.
