ursula blickle video prize 2008
Four years ago the ursula blickle videolounge emerged out of a longtime
bond with the Kunsthalle Wien. With the aim of promoting young artists
in her hometown, Ursula Blickle has created a platform in which
different curators put together a monthly changing video program. Via
screens at the Kunsthalle Wien and the University of applied arts,
visitors can access an extensive archive of over 1,800 works from the
1960s to the present. In addition to the many international art videos
the archive also provides an overview of the local video art scene in
Austria.
The ursula blickle video prize is awarded annually in conjunction with
the ursula blickle videolounge. It was presented for the fourth year in
2008, endowed for the first time with € 3,500. The prize is
awarded to students of the University of applied arts, vienna, for
outstanding artistic achievement in the medium of video.
